This Somso Model is a natural size head with a removable brain (in eight parts) and the membranes of the dura mater (falx of the cerebrum and tentorium of the cerebellum). The falx and tentorium gives a wonderful 3D understanding to the form and function of these structures that cannot be found in any book.
This is one our favorite teaching tools in that it has all the cranial nerves in the base of the head along with the venous sinuses, and much of the arterial vessels. The dura mater hugging the base of the skull shows the natural striations of the tissue and has the beautiful silvery sheen seen in real cadavers.
The brain is in eight parts allowing you to see the third, fourth and lateral ventricles, the cerebellum in two parts, the temporal lobes in two parts, the brain stem in two parts, and the cerebrum in two parts. This model has amazing detail with a key to all the important anatomical landmarks and is a wonderful teaching and learning tool for both students and professionals alike.
